"Project Orange"
So, the Pine and me decided, that with the hustle and bustle of life—work, school and the like—it’s been increasingly difficult for us to plan photo field trips, a thought we originally had after I finally went to the darkside and purchased my very first digital SLR camera. Surrendering to the constant scheduling conflicts, but not to our passions for capturing a great shot, we decided to create a photo project whereby we could both focus on one, common theme, though in our personal time—complete with set guidelines and non-negotiable deadlines. We figured this would be a more productive way to exercise our photo prowess and maybe learn some things along the way, too!
December 1st, our first deadline. The aptly named “Project Orange” held us accountable to capturing the vibrant fall color during a time—deep into November—when the once-dominant orange quickly began losing its luster to deader yellows and browns. The rules were simple: portray orange in a direct, abstract or otherwise representative way in five separate images during the course of two weeks.
As this is certainly not a competition, we welcome any comments about our images, as well as any recommendations for the next project’s theme. Mine are posted on this blog and Stephen's photos can be seen by visiting "Stephen Pine's Blog" to the right of this screen. Please enjoy our first ever showing!
