The dock

Sometimes, we just need to look at things we essentially take for granted, despite the fact they they may on the surface, or at first glance, seem entirely uninteresting. I had this thought in mind when taking this photo, but became even more sensitive to my surroundings and quickly learned that we are surrounded by beauty everyday. All this is, is a simple, boring dock that, for today, looks just a bit more interesting.

Lil' sisters can't stay little forever

It seems like yesterday when she fell off her bike riding up and down Roosevelt Avenue with her oversized glasses with the lilac rims that everyone, including me, found to be the center of humor on more occasions than I'd like to admit. She's blossomed from toddler to teen to temptress - as I would imagine her boyfriend may consider - all in the matter of minutes. Above all, she's still the sunlight even when the sky doesn't seem so bright and the North Star on the most cloud-ridden night.

An empty park bench at a psych hospital in Cranston, RI

The benches are all there, yet no one is sitting in them during the peak of the afternoon. I wonder if the patients even know they're there. And if they did, would they appreciate an afternoon like this, or a few minutes of fresh air the same way as you or I?

Our little Mexican firecracker

Full of energy and ready to play at a moment's notice. That's our little Koko. It's amazing she's taking a break right now, but notice who the owner of the "baby" is. Every time I take the ironing board out, she drops that little pink toy on my foot for a seemingly relentless game of "fetch." Without this little spitfire, I think we'd sometimes forget the truly finer things in life. She's a big part of what keep us looking forward to the next day.

Sometimes I just want to be left alone

Please just let me sleep for the love of God! Poor Rocky has a tough life of sleeping for more than two thirds of the day. Still, he's as photogenic when he's sleeping as he is when he's awake. There something so peaceful about him, calming even, that just makes you want to melt into the couch with him - of course, only if time would allow more opportunities.
